I.B.M. has bought most of the assets of the closely held Sector7, adding services and programs that make it easier for clients to switch their software to run on Linux and I.B.M.'s AIX operating system. Financial terms were not disclosed, I.B.M. said in a statement yesterday. The company will hire an undisclosed number of Sector7 employees to work in its services unit. Sector7, which was established in Britain in 1985, is now based in Austin, Tex.
